The light beam produced can then be filtered into a particular narrow range of wavelengths and thus, depending on the filter selected, can be used to target a particular hair problem, skin condition or sign of ageing, while reducing side effects. A single system with a set of filters can be used to treat all eligible conditions, for example the treatment of small spider veins, redness, facial flushing, pigmentation, age spots, fine wrinkles and hair removal (just to name a few)While IPL is somewhat less specific than lasers, it is more versatile and cost-effective. A laser emits a “coherent light” (synchronized light waves on a single wavelength) which is used to treat a specific condition; therefore if another condition is in need of treatment, a separate laser may be required. Whereas with IPL it may be sufficient to just change a filter. IPL Technology is categorised as a “non-laser photo device” which, quite the opposite of Laser Technology, emits a spectrum of different wavelengths. Special filters then remove unwanted wavelengths keeping only those suitable for treating a number of different conditions, different intensity settings are also used to customise the treatment to the skin type of the consumer.Hair Removal :The IPL system for hair reduction and removal uses the most advanced technology on the market today. The wavelength, exposure duration and energy level are specified to selectively damage targeted hair follicles with minimum damage to the surrounding tissue. The Intense Pulsed Light is absorbed by hair follicles, heating them up. As a result the hair follicles are damaged and the damage results in epilation. The number of treatments required depends on the area being treated, skin type and hair colour. In addition, the Intense Pulsed Light only works on hair follicles which are actively growing at the time of the treatment. Further courses of treatment may be needed before the area is fully clear of hair, if hormonal changes cause hair re-growth, or if hair follicles which lay dormant at the time of the course of treatment become active, they may grow new hair. This long term – but not permanent - safe, effective and non-invasive method gently removes undesired hair from all parts of the body. IPL Treatment is not compatible with simultaneous sun exposure, and certain hair or skin colours (i.e. Blonde, red and white or grey) may result in differing results.
